University of Sheffield academics have contributed to two of the 100 most talked-about journal articles of 2016. The list, compiled by Altmetric, brings together the academic papers which have been shared and discussed most frequently online - whether in the news, on social media or via a variety of other sources.
Dr Ed Daw from the Department of Physics was part of the international research team which observed gravitational waves for the first time. The article announcing their findings is one of the most discussed papers of 2016. Researchers from the Department of Oncology & Metabolism contributed to research comparing different types of prostate cancer treatment over a 10 year period, and their paper also places highly on the list.
