IEEE Xplore - celebrating 15 years

Did you know that you can search 3,663,333 items in IEEE Xplore including conference proceedings, standards, ebooks, journals and magazines? Here are a few more tips and facts:

  • IEEE Xplore covers a wide range of subject areas including robotics & control systems, aerospace, bioengineering, computing & processing and power, energy & industry applications. 
  • Through IEEE Xplore you can access Smart Grid Vision Reference documents including the Grid Vision 2050 Vision Reference Model and Roadmap.
  • You can create an individual account within IEEE and receive regular notifications of recently posted content.
  • Over 500,000 documents are now available in HTML format. This enables you to jump to sections within a document and explore figures, equations and formulas quickly. 
  • You can sort your search results by Most Cited enabling you to find influential papers within your research area.

New collection available through StarPlus - ASM Handbboks Online

You can now access ASM Handbooks Online through the University Collections search in  StarPlus:

ASM Handbooks Online™ is a peer-reviewed and comprehensive source of information on ferrous and non-ferrous metals and materials technology. You can view the complete content of 30 ASM Handbook volumes, several ASM Handbook supplements, and 2 ASM Desk Editions. Content is updated quarterly.

Volumes include -

Volume 3: Alloy Phase Diagrams
Volume 4D: Heat Treating of Irons and Steels
Volume 20: Materials Selection and Design
Volume 22A: Fundamentals of Modelling for Metals Processing

As one chapter closes...another opens

St George's Library Closure

St. George's Library will close its doors for the final time at 6pm on Sunday 14 June 2015. The closure is part of the University's vision to deliver unrivalled innovation in study facilities.

As we bid farewell to St. George's Library, our attention turns to the anticipated opening of The Diamond, serving students and staff from across the University with access to both digital and print resources. State-of-the art study spaces and learner support services have been carefully planned to reflect the dynamic needs of 21st century learning.

The Library, with our colleagues in CiCS, is proud to be designing and providing services for The Diamond. With almost 1,000 new innovative study spaces we continue to invest in and improve the Sheffield student learning experience.
